Fans of children’s books would be well advised to check out Diane Mae Robinson’s Sir Princess Petra’s Talent. It is currently available and is the second and most recent installment in the Pen Pieyu series that Miss Robinson has also penned. A third episode is currently underway, but there’s a lot of time to check out this wonderful tale for kids while waiting for the next episode in the series.
Miss Robinson is no newcomer to the world of children’s tales. She has made a name for herself as an established author of children’s books and a writing instructor at the famed Creative Writing Institute. Clearly, Miss Robinson knows her craft.
The book starts off with a short and very readable synopsis of the first book. It’s a quick and efficient way to get new readers into the story (aside from reading the first book). From there the pace quickens as we find that the main protagonist of the series, Princess Petra, has tamed the dragon Snarls in the first book (no mean feat in itself). This has earned her the prestigious title of a Royal Knight. Princess Petra’s parents expect her now to act more like a princess and so send her off to Talent school to learn a talent worthy of a princess. The other option instead of attending Talent school? Being turned into a frog! This is clearly not a very appealing option for anyone so Princess Petra understandably attends Talent school. The Princess is accompanied to school by her now new friend Snarls and Prince Duce Crablips of the Kingdom of Crablips.
The young Princess is in a quandary as to what talent she will choose to master. Here is what the whole story revolves around and this is where Miss Robinson displays her true talents as a writer. As an established writer of children’s books, Miss Robinson delivers everything that a good children’s story needs. A good conflict, lovable and endearing characters, words that are easily understandable by kids, and a wonderful moral lesson that kids and adults alike can learn from. All throughout the book she shows how adept she is at writing as the pace of the book is just right for kids, and the story very engaging and readable.
Miss Robinson paints a wonderful story with words that teaches children the value of perseverance and how important friendship really is. The illustrations in the book help capture these values even more and kids are sure to be captivated by them.
Overall, Sir Princess Petra’s Talent is a wonderful and engaging children’s book that will surely captivate readers of all ages. It is a wonderful addition to a great series. We can only expect that the third book will surely follow up from where this left off.
Sir Princess Petra’s Talent is now available on Amazon.
