Gai Nightseed. The average run-of-the-mill teenager. Doesn't cause problems. Doesn't get into trouble, and is one of the rich kids. Seems okay. To the outside world. Only ONE person knows his secret. That he is the deadliest person alive. He is the feared assassin, ABC. He's killed many, but never children, not even his own age. What will happen when he's supposed to take care of his friends? What will he do?

Extract:

"I have only one shot. One chance. One opportunity. I cannot mess up." Using those sentences as my motto, I have been able to become the greatest assassin ever known. I have completed all of my assignments except the last one. I have no idea what came over me. But my employer didn't specify exactly what to do. But he hinted. When I got to the house, I did what I normally do. I crept into the house, then went to the target's room. I never think of my assignments as a person. It makes the job easier.
When I got into the room, I stood over the target and hesitated. That's when the target's eyes opened. So did the mouth. I had to put my hand over it. I could have killed the target, but for some reason, I didn't. If I didn't hesitate, I could have moved on with my life. But that's the thing. I hesitated.

**  Author Interview  **

Kasper:  Hi FayeAnna Jones, welcome to the Fantasy Sci-Fi Network.  We’re keen to hear all about you and your writing.  So let’s jump on in.

What was the defining event that made you start writing?

I started writing one day during study hall in 9th grade because I had forgotten my drawing notebook at home, and I had finished my book earlier that day. I wrote my short story, The Eagle and the Mouse at that time.

It’s awesome to start at such a young age.  Congratulations.

What other writing have you done?

I am currently working on 30+ other stories, and I have a few short stories that I am working on. I am also working on a daily devotional book.

30+  wowsers!

What makes your writing unique compared to others in the genre?

My writing is different because I am writing it. Every single person’s writing is different from another person because no one is the same.

What’s the story behind your Assassin Trilogy titles?

It’s about a 17-year-old boy who is an assassin only because he wants to get revenge for his older brother.

I don’t really have any plots for any of my stories. I just pick a spot I want to reach and write until I reach it. The characters write the story, I’m just their medium.

Which scene from your book do you like best and why?

I don’t really have a favorite scene… But I do like the fight scenes.

Me too.  Action is such fun, both to read and to write.

Which is your favourite character and why?

My favorite character would probably be Gai or Ty. Gai, because he’s the main character and I know a lot about him, but Ty because he’s still learning things about himself and the world.

How do you come up with your story ideas:

I lay in bed and come up with them because I cannot sleep. I don’t even know how many stories I have now.  Then, as the story progresses, the characters make themselves known to me.

Which one of your characters would you like to be?

Which character…. maybe Laos, because he rolls with everything that comes his way, and things rarely surprise him. (I do not have any pictures of any of my characters….except for my other book….which I only traced a bunch of different photos to get it.)

Have you used any real events or places as inspiration for your writing?

No, I have not. Real things…yes. No places yet.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to write a book?

Just let your characters take you where they want to go. Even if it sounds cheesy to you, (believe me, I have A LOT of that), just let it stay. It ends up turning out great!

I agree, sometimes small ideas grow into something wondrous.

What music do you listen to when writing?

I listen to Klove, which is on 98.7 FM.

What are you working on now?

MANY other stories.

What’s your writing routine?

Write whenever I can.

What do you do when you have writers’ block?

Switch stories.

How did you go about developing your eye-catching cover artwork?

I found one online. Yes, I gave credit.

If you could only take three books with you through an interstellar portal, what would they be?

Books of the Edge Chronicles series, and Blue Exorcist manga series.

List some great books you have recently read:

Ranger’s Apprentice, Brotherband Chronicles, Edge Chronicles, Blue Exorcist, Seven Deadly Sins, etc….I could go on forever….

Who are your five favourite authors?
I only have one favorite and that is Tamora Pierce. But I also like Paul Stewart, Erin Hunter, and whoever writes/draws Blue Exorcist, Fairy Tail, One Piece, Soul Eater….etc

What is your favourite quote?
“Don’t judge a book by its cover”

Too true.  It’s a shame so many folks do, isn’t it?

What are your writing plans for this year?
Get my sister’s and my book published before year’s end. We’re writing one together.

That sounds like a fun collaboration.  Good luck, ladies.

Who would you like to be stuck on a deserted planet with?
Sam Winchester, because Dean will come and find him. Or…one of the epic anime characters.

Who would you choose to read your audiobook?
I have no idea. Someone that would pronounce everything right. Especially the names.

What’s your dream job and do you think you’ll do it one day?
Be a Veterinary Technician and a writer. And yes, I think I’ll do that someday.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

Reading, watching anime, coloring, hiking, the possibilities are endless…

Where do you like to travel to?

Awesome places to hike and see new things!

What’s your favourite pet?

I actually have an African Grey named AJ, but I really want a chameleon, two mice, one male, one female, and a husky, and a cat.

I’m thinking you might end up with a lot of mice, LOL

Do you prefer ebook or hardcopy?

Hard copy all the way

Are there any writing styles or genres you dislike?

ROMANCE

You can be any fictional character for one day. Who would you be?

Someone strong and loved in an anime or one of my favorite book series.

What’s your experience of the Fantasy Sci-Fi Network?

It’s great! Very nice people on it, too.

Aw…that’s lovely to hear.  I agree.  I joined when I published my 1st book and still like it 3 books later.  Friends for life.

Where do you see the Fantasy Sci-Fi Network in 5 years?

Bigger, with a lot more members.

Quick Quiz:

Favourite food: Asparagus.

Silliest saying: I like to wix my mords.

Best holiday spot: building a snow fort.

Favourite song at the moment: What Love Really Means by JJ Heller

With writing, are you a plotter or (seat-of- your) pantser? I just plan for one spot in the future, and have the characters work towards it. Just plan as I go.

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings: Hard choice. I can’t choose. They’re both awesome.

Best superpower: All powers of the mind.

Thanks for sharing your writing with us, FayeAnna.  It’s been a blast getting to know you.  Best of luck with your writing.
